Overclocked 2U Workstation

The AS-2115HV-TNRT from Supermicro is a great, versatile and well equipped system. It's a workstation on paper but is capable of being used as a server as well. It supports a powerful AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro processor, high-speed networking, up to 4 GPUs and more. Let's take a closer look at the features.

A quick overview

At first glance it looks like a standard Supermicro 2U chassis. Looking at the front, there's a power button and status lamps on the left. At the center there's 8x hot-swappable U.2 NVMe drive bays. On the right there's a lot of space for ventilation.

Just behind the front is a set of 6 fan modules, needed to cool down the entire system. It comes with an airflow guide, but fret not. It's not actually that difficult to place and install.

Performance

This system is currently one of the top workstations. Supporting AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro processor with up to 96 cores and 192 threads. It comes with ASPEED AST2600 BMC for its out-of-band IPMI management and has 8x DDR5 memory slots, eight channel memory in 1DPC configuration. You also get ECC RDIMM memory support.

Paired with 4x GPUs and high-speed networking, this can be a great rackmounted workstation. It's versatility and possibilities Overall, a great rackmounted workstation that can also act as a server, a machine that can do graphic tasks, like video rendering, engineering tasks and even AI.

Overclocking
